Laboratory

Forrest General Hospital Laboratory Services provides a variety of laboratory testing for inpatients and outpatients of all ages and serves as a reference laboratory to our regional hospitals, clinics, and local nursing homes.

FGH Clinical Laboratory is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

FGH Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists, while being medically supervised by board-certified pathologists and staffed by medical laboratory scientists, medical laboratory technicians, histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, technical assistants, and phlebotomists.  The Laboratory performs over 3 million tests per year, which provides the means for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

The Specimen Collection Manual below provides a reference to assist our customers in the use of available laboratory services at Forrest General Hospital. This manual is meant only to supplement the established existing regulations, procedural policies, SOPs and guidelines as set forth within the Forrest Health System, and by our regulatory agencies (CLIA, CAP, and AABB).
