Forrest General Hospital Emergency Department Renovation

As one of the two busiest emergency departments in Mississippi, we continue to see growing numbers of patients seeking emergency services. To better serve our community and improve the care experience, an expansion project is underway that will add 12 new patient rooms to our Emergency Department.

In the coming months, renovations will also begin at the Ambulatory Entrance to improve patient flow, reduce congestion, and create a more comfortable and efficient experience for patients and visitors. Planned improvements include:

  • A redesigned entrance and open-concept lobby with a more streamlined registration process
  • Expanded triage space to help patients be evaluated more efficiently
  • A fully renovated Fast Track and Treatment Lounge area featuring comfortable recliners and private treatment cubicles with doors
  • A new nurses station and expanded lab draw area with additional testing capabilities
  • A dedicated discharge area and exit to help improve patient flow
  • A new Forrest General Hospital Police area
  • Controlled-access entry with weapons detection technology to enhance safety and security

These enhancements are designed to strengthen emergency care, improve the patient experience, and create a safer, more efficient environment for everyone who comes through our doors.

During construction, patients and visitors may notice temporary changes to entrances, traffic patterns, or waiting areas. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these important improvements. These investments reflect our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional emergency care for South Mississippi, both today and for years to come.
