Families leaving Forrest General Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will now have the opportunity for a last-minute keepsake. A new mural has been placed on a wall.

HATTIESBURG, MS (December 29, 2021) – Forrest General Hospital is proud to announce that its Family Birthplace has achieved the highly prestigious international Baby-Friendly designation once again. A rigorous review process was conducted by Baby-Friendly USA, the organization responsible for bestowing this certification in the United States.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (December 6, 2021) In the new year, Forrest General Hospital’s Spirit of Women (SOW) will continue classes for new and expectant mothers but with a special touch. In memory of Madalene Daniell, who provided more than 40 years of Fitness for Two classes in the Pine Belt, classes will now be known as Madalene’s Moms. Daniell unexpectedly passed away in August of this year.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (November 30, 2021) Adolescence is a difficult time when many changes occur for girls between the ages of eight and 13. This can be a special time for mothers and daughters to have talks about the changes that are or will be occurring. Forrest General Hospital’s Spirit of Women wants to help make those times and talks a little easier. A short video, “Girl Talk,” helps explain the physical and emotional changes that happen during adolescence and can be viewed in the comfort of one’s own home as many times as needed.

Forrest General Hospital’s Women & Children’s Services Promote the ABCs of Safe Sleep for Newborns

Brittney Brown was born in Forrest General Hospital’s Labor and Delivery Department at 38 weeks some years ago. Despite weighing a healthy 7 lbs. and a few ounces, she was placed in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where she stayed for quite some time.

Brittany and Daniel Rochin of Hattiesburg excitedly announced the arrival of a new baby, expected in June 2020. Already parents of 7-month-old twins, Creed and Bodhi, the Rochin household was going to be lively with the new addition of baby Ryker just 16 months later.

Forrest General Hospital staff was saddened to learn of the death of Madalene Daniell, who for the past 44 years had overseen Forrest General Hospital’s Spirit of Women “Fitness for Two” classes. Daniell passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
