Forrest General Hospice, Asbury Hospice House, and Forrest General’s Palliative and Supportive Care hosts Annual Memorial Service
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (March 7, 2020) Forrest General Hospice, Asbury Hospice House, and Palliative and Supportive Care held their annual memorial service on Saturday, March 7, at the Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center to honor the memory of patients who passed away while on hospice and palliative care services this past year. All family members and friends of those patients were invited to attend. There was a balloon and butterfly release and reception following the service.
“The annual Hospice and Palliative Care memorial service celebrates the lives and wonderful memories of loved ones lost during the past year,” said Rebecca Pardue, director of Forrest General’s Hospice and Asbury Hospice House. “It allows time for our staff and volunteers to reconnect with family members, which is an important part of bereavement and emotional support. The service is very special to all who attend.”
During times of serious illness and loss, hospice is instrumental in providing care and improving the quality of life for terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice care emphasizes maintaining dignity, improving quality of life and providing compassionate care and comfort during a difficult time.
“This service serves as a day of reflection and remembrance and provides an opportunity for our staff to celebrate the lives and memories of our patients with their loved ones,” said the Rev. Ken Roberts, chaplain and bereavement coordinator for Forrest General Hospice and Asbury Hospice House. “It serves as a ministry opportunity highlighting hospice and palliative care in our community.”
