Forrest General Healthcare Foundation announces winner of Win This Car
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (December 11, 2020) Christmas came early for Hattiesburg’s Peggy Boutwell when her name was drawn as the winner of a fully-loaded Honda CR-V EX-L given away by the Forrest General Healthcare Foundation. The virtual drawing was held Thursday, December 10, in the showroom of Vardaman Honda on Broadway Drive and broadcast live at the top of WDAM-TV’s 6 p.m. newscast as well as live on the Foundation’s Facebook page. The pearl white Honda SUV was adorned with a big red ribbon and was by far the largest gift on the showroom floor.
Funds raised through the annual raffle, in which 1,100 tickets were sold, will benefit community healthcare throughout the Pine Belt.
When reached by phone, Boutwell was shocked, and extremely happy, saying she had never won anything. Boutwell said she always supports the Foundation by purchasing a ticket every year. “I never think twice about purchasing a ticket,” she said. “This year I bought my ticket and put it aside, and I’d completely forgotten about the drawing last night. I never expected to win. When I was called I thought it had something to do with work.”
Boutwell currently drives a 2010 Honda, but is very excited about this upgrade.
On Friday morning, Boutwell met with Foundation and dealership representatives to sign all the necessary paperwork before driving her new vehicle off the lot.
“I feel incredibly humbled by the overwhelming generosity of our community and Forrest General’s employees,” said Martha Dearman, executive director of the Foundation. “We’re glad to see the Pine Belt continue to support our many philanthropic endeavors.”
