Forrest General employee recognized with Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award
Juanita Carley, RT, was presented with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award, Friday, February 1.
Carley said, “I am extremely honored to have been nominated and ultimately chosen for the Patriot Award. I admire and respect each member of our armed forces. My father and grandfather both served in the Army, and my oldest son is currently serving in the United States Coast Guard in Washington state. As a supervisor, I believe it is very important for us, as employers, to stand behind and support these men and women who so unselfishly sacrifice their time and ultimately their lives to serve and protect each one of us. It was always with honor that I was able to work with and support different employees as they juggled both their civilian and military careers. I especially admire and respect Ms. Paula Lucas for her commitment to the Air National Guard and to Forrest General Radiology – all while attending graduate school at UMMC. To me, she, along with all our service men and women, deserves all the honor— God bless our soldiers, and God bless America.”
The Patriot Award recognizes people nominated by a Guardsman or Reservist employee for support provided directly to the nominating service member and his or her family. This award reflects support made through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. Carley was nominated by Paula Lucas, RT®. In addition to working in Forrest General’s Radiology Department, Lucas is a technical sergeant in the Airforce Reserves.
The ESGR’s mission is to create and maintain a culture of support of employers across the United States.
