Artists’ and Survivors’ Reception To Be Held for 16th Annual Pine Belt Flowers of Hope Project

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (October 1, 2019) The Library, Seraphim Studios, and The Breast Cancer Awareness Team (BCAT) will host an artists’ and survivors’ reception for the 16th Annual Pine Belt Flowers of Hope Project at the Library Galleries (329 Hardy Street) on Thursday, October 10 from 4:30 until 6 p.m.

Since 2004, stained glass artists in the Pine Belt area and various other states have created 8x8 stained glass panels to be given to randomly selected breast cancer survivors as part of the Flowers of Hope project. The survivors are identified by the Breast Cancer Awareness Team which is comprised of representatives from Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg Clinic, Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative, Merit Health Wesley, Pink! (The Pink Ribbon Fund), and other area breast cancer associations. All of the stained glass panels will be on display during the reception.

Flowers of Hope is a unique program that allows participating artists to use their time and talent to bring light and caring into the lives of their neighbors. The stained glass art is always beautiful, and it’s such a special way to honor breast cancer survivors in our community,” said Dee Tatum, Seraphim Studios.

Light refreshments, provided by the Friends of the Library and BCAT, will be served during the reception. Artists who have created stained glass for the project, all area breast cancer survivors, and the general public are invited to attend.
