Forrest General’s Public Safety Department hosts 3rd Annual Shop with a Cop

Forrest General's Public Safety Department held their 3rd Annual Shop with a Cop on Saturday, December 16. Officer Willie McDay escorted five children from two different families to Walmart for their Christmas shopping trip.
“I am thankful to Chief Wayne Landers for allowing us to do this every year. I love taking the kids shopping and getting to see how excited they are to pick out their Christmas gifts. It really makes a big impact on these children,” said McDay.
The Public Safety officers, employees from other areas of the hospital, and Walmart contributed generously for each child to have money to spend on toys, games and other items for Christmas.
“I am proud of Officer Willie McDay for leading our department’s Shop with a Cop program and our officers who contribute money, because they want to help children who otherwise would have very little at Christmas. We are blessed to have the opportunity to work with so many officers who truly care about others,” said Wayne Landers, CHSP, CHCM, CHEP, director of Public Safety.
Police officers across the nation spread Christmas cheer to families in need by hosting their own Shop with a Cop events. The primary purpose of the event is to foster positive relationships between youth and officers.
