Spirit of Women hosts first Sweeteas Pearl Ceremony

Hattiesburg, Miss. – (April 8, 2016) Forrest General’s Spirit of Women hosted its first Pearl Ceremony on Thursday, April 7, to honor 6th grade Sweeteas who were graduating from the program.

“I love that this program is something for mothers and daughters to enjoy together. I hope that these young ladies look back and cherish the memories they made as Sweeteas,” said Breanne Gaubert, Sweetea and Spirit Girls coordinator.

The Sweeteas Club is designed for young girls in grades Pre-K through 6th grade. The club hosts special events throughout the year, offering opportunities for these young ladies to spend special time with their moms or other female chaperones while learning about the essence of a true Southern Girl – charm, character and charisma, and the art of touching the world with Southern Grace!

This club is also designed to help young ladies learn how to take action for their health at an early age and includes expert advice from physicians and other healthcare professionals. Sweeteas are also participants in community events year-round, instilling pride in their community and teaching them they can make a difference even at a young age.

"Sweeteas is a wonderful program for young ladies to begin to learn about the importance of volunteerism and giving back to their community. Our goal is also to promote self-esteem and encourage friendships that can last a lifetime. These young ladies can move right into our Spirit Girl program and continue to develop a love for helping others. I'm very proud of what they have already accomplished. They are all unique and special. I know they are going to make a difference in the lives of many in the future," said Millie Swan, chief marketing & medical staff services officer at Forrest General.

Avery White, age 11, has been a member of the Sweeteas Club since she was 6 years old. Her favorite activity has been participating in the annual Halloween Parade. Like many of the other 15 graduating Sweeteas, White plans to audition to become a Spirit Girl for the 2016-2017 school year. When asked what she most looks forward to about becoming a Spirit Girl, White said, “I’m excited about participating in food drives to help feed people in our community.”

All little girls ages Pre-K through 6th grade are invited to be part of the Sweeteas program, which kicks off for the year in September. For more information about the Sweeteas, visit or contact Breanne Gaubert at 601-288-1306 or
