Hattiesburg, Miss. (January 13, 2016)–Forrest General’s Spirit of Women held Dining Divas, the final event in the Calling All Divas series. The event took place on Wednesday, January 13 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Southern Oaks House and Gardens, 1246 Richburg Road in Hattiesburg.
Ben Rester, M.D., cardiologist with Hattiesburg Clinic Cardiology, opened the event by explaining how the heart works, different types of heart disease, and what actions women can take to protect their hearts. Next, everyone enjoyed lunch while Julie May, Ph.D., blogger and owner of Asiago Cheese Cafe, presented time-saving tips and tricks on how to prepare healthy meals for today’s fast-paced lifestyles. May also included information on the importance of getting children and grandchildren involved in meal preparations. After speaking, May spent some time visiting with the audience and signing copies of her cookbook, Menu Musings of a Modern American Mom.
“It’s so important for women to take some time to enjoy themselves and learn new things. Eating healthy foods, managing stress, exercising, and getting a proper amount of rest can leads to better health, and that’s what Spirit of Women is all about,” said Kathy Emmons, Spirit of Women coordinator.
