Forrest General Holds Flag Dedication in Honor of National Donate Life Month
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (April 22, 2015) The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) has teamed up with Forrest General and other hospital partners across the state to promote National Donate Life Month during April.
On Wednesday, April 22, Forrest General held a flag dedication at the hospital’s main entrance to honor donors and recognize the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation.
“Our hospital and staff is dedicated to increasing donor awareness in our community,” said Gladys Wolff, director of Critical Care at Forrest General. “We strive to insure each individual and all families have the option to donate.”
Throughout the month, emphasis has been placed on the need for individuals of legal age to indicate their desire to donate by signing up on the Mississippi Donor Registry at www.donatelifems.org.
“April is our busiest time of year, be a time we enjoy most – working cooperatively with our hospitals to make local communities aware of the need for organ, tissue and eye donors,” said Joel Stevens, MORA hospital development coordinator. “Donate Life Month gives us an opportunity to strengthen relationships and share our life-saving mission in a public and personal way.”
MORA staff members have worked collaboratively with participating hospitals to individualize awareness events specifically for the facility and community with programs that often include donor families and transplant recipients.
