    Forrest General’s Chief Marketing & Medical Staff Services Officer Selected to Serve on National Advisory Board for Spirit of Women 

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (August 22, 2014) Millie Swan, Forrest General’s chief marketing & medical staff services officer, has been selected to serve on the Advisory Board of Spirit of Women, a national network of leading hospitals dedicated to improving women's lives with innovative health and community programs. Swan’s appointment was announced to the Spirit of Women network of hospitals at their National Executive Meeting last month in Miami, Florida. Her term runs through June 2016.


    Swan joins an elite group of healthcare leaders from hospitals across the country, all of whom were selected based on the scope of their responsibilities both at work and in their communities, and also, for their ability to represent the voice and needs of today’s healthcare consumer.

    The Spirit of Women Advisory Board is responsible for furthering the mission of Spirit of Women by helping to develop meaningful, memorable and actionable programming and education for communities across the United States. Members convene annually and are involved in remote planning meetings throughout the year.

    In her role as Chief Marketing and Medical Staff Services Officer for Forrest General Hospital, Swan oversees Medical Staff Services, Marketing and Communications, the Heart and Vascular Service line, the Oncology Service line, Food and Nutrition, Guest and Pastoral Services and FGH OnCall. Forrest General became a Spirit of Women member in 2004 and under Swan’s leadership has continued to grow to more than 8,000 local Spirit of Women members. She has been instrumental in adding new programs under the Spirit of Women umbrella including Spirit Girls for girls in grades 7-12 and the Sweeteas program for girls pre-school through grade 6. Swan is a past recipient of the Amethyst Award presented by the National Spirit of Women Organization. She currently serves as a board member for the Mississippi Distinguished Young Woman Program and Aids Coalition Services.

    • The Medical Center of Plano, Plano, Texas
    • The Women’s Hospital, Newburgh, Indiana
    • WellStar Health System, Marietta, Georgia
