      Forrest General has been on the receiving end of the graciousness of many people during past natural disasters such as Katrina. The hospital is returning the favor this week as they reached out to hospitals in Louisiana to repay the kindness.

      Forrest General Cancer Center announces the addition of a Varian Edge Linear Accelerator® in its battle to fight cancer. The new piece of equipment has the capability to treat all types of cancers with conventional radiation and using high dose pinpoint radiation, otherwise known as stereotactic radiation.

      Forrest General Hospital has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain ? MI (myocardial infarction) Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2020. Forrest General is one of only 140 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.

    • Forrest General Performs State’s First Minimally-Invasive Procedure for Severe Mitral Regurgitation with the New and Improved G4 8/19/2020

      The cardiology team at Forrest General Hospital has successfully performed mitral valve repair using the newly-innovative G4 MitraClip device™. This procedure is a minimally invasive treatment option for people with a severe leak in the mitral valve who are too high-risk for traditional open-heart surgery or select heart patients who remain symptomatic despite guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT). The condition, called mitral regurgitation (MR), is one of the most common heart valve diseases.

    • Forrest General Names Mike Nguyen as July DAISY Award Winner 7/30/2020

      Many refer to Mike Nguyen, an RN on 9T, as the poster representative for patient-centered care, teamwork, and compassion. Such attributes have garnered Nguyen recognition as the July DAISY Award winner. The award is presented monthly to a deserving nurse who exemplifies clinical expertise and compassionate care and is recognized as a role model in the nursing community.

      Forrest General Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s 2020 Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

    • AAA Ambulance Service Has Come to the Aid of Forrest County Residents for Number of Years 7/22/2020

      On any given night, AAA Ambulance Service might have 24 or more ambulances dispatched across an eight-county area with five of those serving the Hattiesburg area. During peak daylight hours they have eight units serving the Hub City. The service is a joint effort of Forrest General Hospital, Forrest County and the City of Hattiesburg and is the oldest continuously operated EMS company in the state.

    • Forrest General Receives Award for Quality Treatment of Heart Attack Patients 7/22/2020

      Forrest General Hospital has received the 2020 Mission: Lifeline® Gold Plus Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks.

    • Forrest General Home Care of Marion General Awarded Superior Performer Status 7/16/2020

      Forrest General Home Care of Marion General has been recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Superior Performer” for achieving an overall patient satisfaction score ranked in the top 20 percent of all eligible SHP clients for the 2019 calendar year.




    A Board of Trustees appointed by the Forrest County Board of Supervisors is charged with the oversight of Forrest Health. The system is completely self supporting and does not operate on local taxes.
    Forrest Health facilities are approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for participation in Medicare and Medicaid Programs.
