A rigorous review process was conducted by Baby-Friendly USA, the organization responsible for bestowing this certification in the United States.

  • Forrest General Home Care Nurse Receives State’s MAHC J.T. Gilbert Award 12/20/2021

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (December 20, 2021) Forrest General Home Care Nurse, Robert “Scott” Nelson, RN, BSN, has been awarded the 2021 Mississippi Association for Home Care (MAHC) J.T. Gilbert Clinical Award. The award is named for Gilbert, a physical therapist who was the first person to start a home care agency in the state of Mississippi.

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (December 17, 2021) Iesha Barnett, RN, who works as a case manager on the Skilled Nursing Unit at Forrest General Hospital, has been named the November recipient of the DAISY Award. The award, which is presented monthly to a deserving nurse or nurses, exemplifies clinical expertise and compassionate care and is recognized as a role model in the nursing community.­

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. (December 16, 2021) – Earlier this month, cardiologists at Forrest General Hospital performed the 200th WATCHMAN™ procedure for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF). This procedure offers an alternative to long-term blood thinners.

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (December 6, 2021) In the new year, Forrest General Hospital’s Spirit of Women (SOW) will continue classes for new and expectant mothers but with a special touch. In memory of Madalene Daniell, who provided more than 40 years of Fitness for Two classes in the Pine Belt, classes will now be known as Madalene’s Moms. Daniell unexpectedly passed away in August of this year.

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (December 3, 2021) The results of the American Heart Association 2021 Workplace Health Achievement Index were announced December 2, and Forrest General Hospital achieved national Bronze Level recognition for taking significant steps to build a culture of health and well-being for their workforce.

  • Forrest General Hospital Spirit of Women to Present Virtual “Girl Talk” 11/30/2021

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (November 30, 2021) Adolescence is a difficult time when many changes occur for girls between the ages of eight and 13. This can be a special time for mothers and daughters to have talks about the changes that are or will be occurring. Forrest General Hospital’s Spirit of Women wants to help make those times and talks a little easier. A short video, “Girl Talk,” helps explain the physical and emotional changes that happen during adolescence and can be viewed in the comfort of one’s own home as many times as needed.

  • Forrest General Hospital’s Asbury Hospice House Celebrates Five Years of “Family Caring for Family” 11/14/2021

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (November 14, 2021) Five years ago, on November 14, 2016, Asbury Hospice House admitted its first patient. Little did they know on that Monday, that their first patient would make such an impact on the lives of so many, both patients and their family members. Since then, more than 2,100 others have taken the same journey with the care and compassion of the Asbury staff. Whether it’s a friendly face, a bouquet of brightly-colored flowers, someone to hold a hand, or a warm cookie every afternoon at 2 p.m., Asbury continues to be “Family Caring for Family.”
