      During this season of giving, patients undergoing treatment at the Forrest General Cancer Center are on the receiving end of goody bags. They aren’t from a group or organization but from fellow survivors and fighters who have been in these patients’ shoes or still are.

      Forrest General Hospital proudly announces the winners of the 15th annual Philip W. Rogers awards. These awards are presented to healthcare workers who exemplify commitment to the field of medicine and excellence in patient care. The award is given to five individuals based on nominations received from their peers. Each winner represents one of Rogers’ most admirable characteristics –Innovator, Leader and Mentor.

    • Forrest General Hospital Employees Begin Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine 12/15/2020

      Forrest General Hospital employees are receiving COVID-19 vaccines beginning today. The hospital is distributing the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine which includes two doses to achieve maximal effectiveness of the vaccine. The second dose will be administered in three weeks, anywhere from 19 to 23 days following the first dose.

    • Forrest General Conducts First FDA-Approved WATCHMAN FLX™ Implant in the State 12/11/2020

      Forrest General became the first hospital in the state since FDA approval to offer the commercial WATCHMAN FLX™ implant. The procedure is for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) and offers an alternative to long-term blood thinners.

      ) Christmas came early for Hattiesburg’s Peggy Boutwell when her name was drawn as the winner of a fully-loaded Honda CR-V EX-L given away by the Forrest General Healthcare Foundation.

    • Forrest General’s Santa, Snowman Take Their Place on Top of Building 12/3/2020

      For the past 40 years, jolly St. Nick and his companion, Frosty the Snowman, have adorned the front of Forrest General Hospital providing comfort and joy to hospital patients, their families, staff and passersby. On Tuesday, with a little Christmas magic and some help from Engineering, the two took their rightful spot once again up on the rooftop.

    • Forrest General Performs First Treo Abdominal Aortic Stent-Graft in Mississippi 11/24/2020

      On Tuesday, the state’s first Treo® Abdominal Aortic Stent-Graft was performed at Forrest General Hospital by Sourabh Mukherjee, M.D., FACS, RPVI, a peripheral vascular surgeon. The graft that was used was recently approved by the FDA, but the pandemic slowed the use of the process down, so only about 30 have been done nationwide.

    • Spirit of Women presents virtual event, Home for the Holidays 11/13/2020

      ‘Tis the season to get creative! Forrest General’s Spirit of Women wants to help you prepare for the upcoming holidays as it partners with Hattiesburg floral and design expert Brandon Chase Welborn for a virtual “Home for the Holidays” extravaganza. Welborn, who brings his special holiday decorating touches to the hospital each year, will host the three-part series which will provide easy, do-it-yourself decorating tips.

    • Forrest General Employees Hold Clean Up Day 11/6/2020

      Inside the doors of Forrest General Hospital, employees are making a difference every day. In support of Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker’s recent “Make A Difference Day,” hospital employees took to the outdoors on November 6 for a campus Clean Up Day.
