Forrest General Hospital Named High Performing Hospital in Five Categories by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals Ratings

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (August 6, 2025) Forrest General Hospital has been named a High Performing Hospital by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals 2025-2026 ratings and rankings which were released in July. This is the highest rating a hospital can earn for the publication’s Procedures and Conditions ratings.
Forrest General was recognized as a High Performing hospital for providing high quality care in six categories across five clinical service areas:
Cancer
Cardiology, Heart & Vascular
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) – the only hospital in Mississippi to receive this rating.
Diabetes
Gastroenterology & GI
Orthopedics
“Forrest General is proud to once again be recognized as a High Performing Hospital in a number of procedures and conditions, as noted by U.S. News & World Report,” said Jeff Cook, Forrest Health President/CEO. “We are especially honored to be the only team in Mississippi recognized with a high-performing ranking for our TAVR procedure.
“These recognitions reflect more than just a moment of achievement – they represent our long-standing commitment to delivering cutting-edge, patient-centered care. As we look ahead, we are focused on building upon this foundation.
“Our goal is to ensure that patients in South Mississippi have access to the highest level of care – close to home. Whether it’s through life-saving cardiovascular procedures, complex surgical interventions, or everyday wellness services, Forrest General remains dedicated to being a leader in exceptional patient care. We will continue pushing forward, raising the bar, and serving our communities with the quality, compassion, and dedication they deserve.”
The annual Procedures & Conditions ratings, which Forrest General Hospital falls under, help assist patients and their health care providers in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.
Of the more than 4,400 hospitals that U.S. News & World Report evaluated, only 36% earned even a single High Performing rating.
Hospitals are ranked from 1 to 50 in each of 15 specialties. Hospitals not in the top 50 in each specialty, but still in the top 10% of all rated hospitals, receive a designation of “high performing.”
For the 36th year, U.S. News & World Report looked at facts like how well hospitals prevent problems, the quality of nursing care, and patient death rates (adjusted for risk) to create the rankings. They used data from millions of records from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
