Forrest General Hospital and Mississippi State Department of Health host Head, Neck, and Oral Cancer Education and Screenings

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (March 10, 2025) Pine Belt residents have an opportunity to attend a free educational seminar and screening about head, neck, and oral health from noon - 3 p.m., Monday, April 7, in the Forrest General Hospital cafeteria meeting rooms.

Head, neck, and oral health is a fundamental component of health, physical, and mental well-being. The screening, which is held in conjunction with the Mississippi State Department of Health, is helpful to call attention to potential problems and to identify early risk factors for dental disease, mouth, and throat cancers as well as other health issues. A screening identifies problems that are visible to the naked eye and does not include a detailed exam or diagnoses. The screenings are first-come, first-served and will be performed by licensed Mississippi dentists.

Hosted by Forrest General Hospital and the Mississippi Department of Health, this seminar will take place in the hospital’s cafeteria meeting rooms. Participants will receive a free oral care kit.

Screenings are on a first-come, first-served basis.
