HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (September 18, 2024) Joseph Ladner always knew the way to his daughter, Katherine’s, heart and those of her friends in the Purvis High School Showchoir – homemade apple fritter pancakes. Ladner, the director of Supply Chain at Forrest Health, begins whipping up a batch by grating apples which he carefully folds into the cinnamony mixture. They are a hit, and he’s willing to share his favorite recipe with you, as are other Forrest Health employees.
Arriving just in time for holiday gift giving, Forrest General Hospital’s Healthcare Foundation presents, “A Taste of Forrest Health,” a cookbook featuring more than 550 wonderful recipes submitted by Forrest Health employees. The pre-sale for the cookbooks gets underway September 18 and continues through October 11. The cookbooks are $35.
Featuring a three-ring binder with a linen-finish plastic laminated cover, the cookbook includes full color throughout with seven different categories of recipes – breads/rolls, appetizers, main dishes, vegetables/side dishes, desserts, cookies/candies, and this & that. Divider pages highlight photos and brief descriptions of some of the projects the Foundation has raised money for throughout the years including Asbury Hospice House, Woullard Chapel, the NICU Terrace at Forrest General Hospital, Spiritual Grounds and Labyrinth at Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Center, the Forrest General Hospital walking track, and work still to be completed on the Pine Grove Chapel and Bell Tower and additions to Asbury Hospice House.
“We have a plethora of great cooks throughout our Forrest Health facilities, and we can’t wait to share these recipes with you,” said Martha Dearman, executive director of the Foundation. “This will definitely be a keepsake and a cookbook you’ll turn to time and time again. At the same time, the purchase of these cookbooks will help us raise funds to complete much-needed additions at Asbury Hospice House and projects at Pine Grove. These cookbooks will make the perfect gift for those on your list this holiday season and will arrive just in time for gift giving. You can even buy several to put up and give for gifts throughout the year.”
Cookbooks should be available for pickup at the Foundation office, 125 South 28th Ave., Suite 149, Hattiesburg, beginning October 28. Books can be shipped for an extra fee of $10.
