Forrest General Cancer Center to Host Cancer Survivor’s Picnic May 10

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (April 11, 2024) In celebration of the Forrest General Cancer Center’s 25th anniversary, a patient favorite is returning. On Friday, May 10, the Cancer Survivor’s Picnic is making a comeback. This event is designed to offer a chance for current and former Cancer Center patients to celebrate and fellowship with other survivors while relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Set for the Bill and Becky Oliver Healing Garden on the grounds of the Cancer Center, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the event will include lunch, an art-making event, special appearance by the Forrest Health therapy dogs, music, entertainment, art contest displays, tables, booths, and more.

“We are excited to bring this picnic back for the Cancer Center’s 25th Anniversary,” said Millie Swan, Forrest Health vice president. “We look forward to seeing our current patients, as well as cancer survivors, in a fun and relaxing setting outside of the Cancer Center.”

In case of rain, the picnic will be moved to the cafeteria meeting rooms at Forrest General Hospital. Each cancer patient or survivor is allowed to bring one guest with them. Registration IS required by calling 601-288-1701. The deadline to register is Friday, May 3, by 5 p.m. Register early as space is limited.
