Forrest General Hospital Family Medicine Clinic

As a resident at Forrest General, the Family Medicine Residency Clinic is the base for ambulatory patient care. The FMRC is located on the first floor of Hattiesburg Clinic, PA, and is conveniently located directly across the street from Forrest General Hospital, the two being connected by a covered walkway.
In addition to 27 well-equipped examination rooms, the clinic has a procedure room, three resident workrooms, and a common checkout area as well as a large conference room.
Most ancillary services are offered in Hattiesburg Clinic and are readily accessible. The Hattiesburg Clinic population is diverse across medical conditions, ages, gender, and ethnicity and includes large pediatric and obstetrical practices. We use a fully integrated electronic medical record system, Epic, in both the Family Medicine Residency Clinic and the hospital.
Family medicine physicians, either faculty or community preceptors, staff each clinic session and are readily available to discuss patient care and to teach and supervise office procedures. A team of healthcare providers including physicians, residents, nurses, counselors, social workers, dietitians, and others work together to provide services for our patients.

Hattiesburg Clinic
Hattiesburg Clinic first opened its doors on May 1, 1963. The clinic traces its roots to 1948 when Ramsay O’Neal, MD, an OB-GYN physician, and Glen T. Pearson, MD, a general surgeon, became partners. Together, these doctors began planning what is now the state’s largest multi-specialty clinic. Fifteen years later, Hattiesburg Clinic, then 10 doctors strong, was officially opened at the present site.
Fifty years after its beginning, the clinic has grown to over 300 physicians and providers, caring for patients in more than 18 counties in South Mississippi. Along with almost 2,000 professional staff employees, these physicians and providers come together for a common purpose, to serve the over 500,000 residents who live and work in South Mississippi every day.
