Forrest General Hospice hosts Annual Memorial Service
Forrest General Hospice, Asbury Hospice House, and Palliative and Supportive Care held their annual memorial service on Saturday, March 3 at the Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center to honor the memory of patients who passed away while on hospice and palliative care services this past year. All family members and friends of those patients were invited to attend. There was a balloon and butterfly release and reception following the service.
“The Hospice Memorial provides a place for the family and friends of our patients as well as our hospice staff and volunteers to gather and remember those we have lost. For us, this is an important part of providing emotional and spiritual support for our patients’ loved ones,” said Melita Miller, director of Forrest General’s Home Care and Hospice and Asbury Hospice House.
During times of serious illness and loss, hospice is instrumental in providing care and improving the quality of life for terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice care emphasizes maintaining dignity, improving quality of life and providing compassionate care and comfort during a difficult time.
“Our annual hospice memorial service is a day of reflection and remembrance and an opportunity for our staff to celebrate the lives and memories of our patients with their loved ones. It serves as a ministry opportunity highlighting hospice and palliative care in our community,” Rev. Ken Roberts, chaplain and bereavement coordinator for Forrest General Hospice and Asbury Hospice House.
