Forrest General Marketing and Communications brings home several awards from MHA’s Maggie Awards including Best of Show
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (November 22, 2016)- Forrest General’s Marketing and Communications Department was honored with several awards at the Mississippi Hospital Association’s 29th Annual Maggie Awards ceremony, including Best In Show Electronic Media. The awards were given at the annual banquet held November 3 in Madison, Mississippi. This annual event is designed to recognize excellence in marketing and public relations efforts of hospitals across the state of Mississippi.
Forrest General received a Maggie Award and the Best In Show Electronic Media designation for a video promoting Heart Month. The video, which featured members of the Sweetea Club, encouraged viewers to learn about the heart and healthy eating habits during the month of February.
Forrest General received five other Maggie Awards: an internal writing feature on the weight loss journey of Willie McDay, one of Forrest General’s Public Safety officers; a special community event, One Couple, Two Cancers, Three Lessons, presented by Spirit of Women and featuring Nan and Charlie Kelly; a project created to celebrate Valentine’s Day on social media, sharing love stories of couples who work together at the hospital; an internal campaign, Peace, Love and Giving, that raised funds for The Healing Garden at Forrest General’s Cancer Center; and posters designed to showcase employees in Labor and Delivery.
The hospital was also recognized with three Awards of Excellence for their annual report, Community Roots; Make the Flu Extinct, an internal campaign encouraging employees to get their flu shots; and the video testimonial of a patient who had suffered a stroke and was working through rehabilitation.
The Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) is the state organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Over 100 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and their over 50,000 employees come together to form MHA. Through our representation and advocacy activities, MHA ensures that members' perspectives and needs are heard and addressed in national and state health policy development, legislative and regulatory debates and judicial matters.
