Forrest General Holds Flag Dedication in Honor of National Donate Life Month
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – (April 6, 2016) The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) teamed up with Forrest General and other hospital partners across the state to promote National Donate Life Month during April.
“The collaboration between MORA and Forrest General is very deep, and I truly appreciate working with the staff at Forrest General. They have donation in their hearts, and it is making a difference in our community,” said Joel Stevens, MORA representative.
On Tuesday, April 5, at 9:30 a.m., Forrest General hosted a flag dedication at the hospital’s main entrance to honor donors and recognize the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation. This brief ceremony was open to the public, and anyone effected by or passionate about organ donation was encouraged to attend.
Michael Raggio, M.D., pulmonary intensivist at Hattiesburg Clinic, said, “It is a privilege to work with MORA, and it is a privilege in the ICU to make a difference. Over the last year, MORA has made thirty-eight transplants. They have transformed thirty-eight lives in the state of Mississippi.”
Throughout the month, emphasis will be placed on the need for individuals of legal age to indicate their desire to donate by signing up on the Mississippi Donor Registry at www.donatelifems.org.
