    • Marion General Home Care was recognized for achieving an overall patient experience score that placed it in the top 5% of all eligible SHP clients nationwide. The award honors home health agencies that consistently deliver exceptional service and care.

    • Forrest General Hospice earned an overall caregiver and family experience score that placed it among the top 5% of all eligible SHP clients. This recognition highlights hospice providers who consistently deliver exceptional support and care to patients’ families and caregivers.

    • Forrest General Hospital has been named a High Performing Hospital by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals 2025-2026 ratings and rankings.

    • The American Heart Association presented Get With the Guidelines – Coronary Artery NSTEMI Gold award and Bronze STEMI Receiving Center award for implementation of quality treatment and care coordination for heart attack patients, as well as Type 2 diabetes care.
  • Best of the Pine Belt Awards

    • Forrest General was voted Festival South Best of the Pine Belt 2024 in three categories: Best Home Health – Forrest General Home Care and Hospice; Best Hospice – Forrest General Home Care & Hospice/Asbury Hospice House; and Best Hospital – Forrest General Hospital.
  • FGH Named High Performing Hospital

    • Forrest General Hospital was named a High Performing Hospital by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals 2024-2025 ratings and rankings. This is the highest rating a hospital can earn for the publication’s Procedures and Conditions ratings. Forrest General was recognized as a High Performing hospital for providing high quality care in the following categories: nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, and stroke.
  • FGH Skilled Nursing Unit Recognized Among Country's Elite by U.S. News and World Report

    • For the second year in a row, U.S. News and World Report has recognized Forrest General Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU) for being among the elite SNU facilities which earned a “High Performing” rating, the highest possible achievement. Only 19% of 15,000-plus skilled nursing facilities rated by U.S. News meet that standard. The 30-bed unit expanded last year to better serve its 19-county service area. The unit, which provides benefits of a post-acute medical setting where patients can go after a hospital stay, offers rehabilitative services such as physical, occupational, speech, respiratory therapies, medical management and other medical services. These services provide recovery benefits to a patient before they return back to a home setting.

  • FMR Program Ranked Fourth in Nation

    • The Forrest General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program ranked fourth in the nation for board scores amongst programs whose graduates all took the American Board of Family Medicine’s board examination in 2023.
  • Forrest Health Uses Medtronic PFA System

    • The first patients were treated with the Medtronic PulseSelect™ Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) System. PFA, a breakthrough technology, uses pulsed electric fields to treat atrial fibrillation (AF), and is for the treatment of patients with paroxysmal (a sudden increase of symptoms) or persistent AF.
  • Forrest Health Celebrates Milestones

    • Forrest Health celebrated a number of anniversaries during 2024. They included:

  • Novel Atrial Fibrillation Treatment

    • Forrest General Hospital treated its first patients with the Medtronic PulseSelect™ Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) System.   • PLUVICTO Treatment is First in State

    • The Forrest General Cancer Center’s Nuclear Medicine team administered PLUVICTO® treatment for the first time on a prostate cancer patient. This is a new, cutting-edge radiopharmaceutical treatment and the first to be given in South Mississippi.
  • Proclamation Recognizes FGH Nurses

    • The Forrest County Board of Supervisors recognized nurses at Forrest General Hospital during Nurses Week with a proclamation acknowledging their efforts. The proclamation was presented by Board President, Terri Bell, and District 3 Supervisor, Steve Stringer, to a representation of nurses from different areas throughout the hospital.

  • TAVR 1,100th Procedure

    • Cardiologists at Forrest General Hospital prepared for their 1,100 TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) procedure. The hospital implemented the program with the first case in February 2015.
  • Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP)

    • Forrest General Hospice has been recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Premier Performer” for achieving an overall caregiver and family experience score that ranked in the top 5% of all eligible SHP clients for the 2024 calendar year.
  • SHPBest Premier Performer Patient Experience Award

    • The annual SHPBest™ award program was created to acknowledge home health agencies that consistently provide high quality service to their patients. The 2024 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking the overall experience score for more than 3,200 home health providers.
  • State’s First ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center

    • Forrest General Hospital was designated as the state’s first American College of Surgeons verified Level II Trauma Center in the state. A verified Level II Trauma Center is able to initiate definitive care for all injured patients.

2023

  • Bariatric Accreditation

    • Forrest General Hospital received designation as a Bariatric Comprehensive Center of Excellence by MBSAQIP (Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program).
  • Best of the Pine Belt Awards

    • Best Home Health – FGH Home Health

    • Best Hospice – Forrest General Hospice/Asbury House

  • Cancer Center Accreditation

    • Forrest General Hospital’s Cancer Center has received accreditation under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC) Accreditation Program.
  • CoC Accreditation

    • The Commission on Cancer, a quality program of the American College of Surgeons, granted Three-Year Accreditation to the cancer program at the Forrest General Cancer Center. To earn voluntary CoC accreditation, a cancer program must meet 34 CoC quality care standards with each compliance item meeting all requirements, be evaluated every three years through a survey process, and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care. Forrest General’s Cancer Center is one of nine accredited cancer centers and facilities in Mississippi.

  • Gold Environmental Service Award

    • Forrest General Hospital was honored with a Gold Environmental Service Award from Stryker, a world leading medical technology company. This award is given for outstanding performance in environmental sustainability and the improvement of overall hospital quality through medical device remanufacturing and reprocessing. Forrest General is the only hospital in Mississippi to receive this award.
  • SNU High Performing Rating

    • U.S. News and World Report recognized Forrest General Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU) for being among the elite SNU facilities which earned a “High Performing” rating, the highest possible achievement. SNU also maintained a 5-star quality rating by CMS, Nursing Home Compare, for health inspections, staffing, and quality measures.
  • State’s Only Accredited Police Department

    • Forrest General Hospital’s Department of Public Safety is currently the only Hospital Police Department in the state to receive re-accreditation by the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission.
  • Surgical Quality Partner Diamond Award

    • Forrest General Hospital’s Cancer Center Program received the Surgical Quality Partner Diamond Award, the accreditation under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC) Accreditation Program.
