Forrest General Hospital Family Medicine Center
As a resident at Forrest General, the Family Medicine Center will be the base for your ambulatory patient care. Our FMC is located on the first floor of Hattiesburg Clinic and is conveniently located directly across the street from Forrest General Hospital, the two being connected by a covered walkway.
In addition to well equipped examination rooms, the Center has 2 procedure rooms, 2 resident working areas, library/staffing area, a patient education room as well as a large conference room.
All ancillary services are offered within Hattiesburg Clinic and are readily accessible. The Hattiesburg Clinic population is diverse across medical conditions, ages, gender and ethnicity and includes large pediatric and obstetrical practices. We use a fully integrated electronic health record system, Epic, in both the Family Medicine Center and the hospital.
Two family medicine physicians, either faculty or community preceptors, staff each clinic session and are readily available to discuss patient care and to teach and supervise office procedures. A team of health care providers including physicians (and residents), nurses, counselors, social workers, dietitians and others work together to provide services for our patients.
Excellent resident education and quality patient care are our priorities. We provide strong procedural education and integrate practice management issues such as documentation, coding and billing into your clinical experience. The outpatient experience at Forrest General is comprehensive, preparing our graduates to practice in any setting.
